Why Foster?

Foster homes provide dogs that would otherwise end up in shelters or kennels, with a temporary warm, "family" environment. Foster dogs stay with their foster families until they find their forever homes.

Foster homes also allow us to learn more about the dog's behavior personality and characteristics. For instance, will the dog do well in a family with children? Is the dog housebroken? How active is the dog? Does the dog know any commands?

How Long Will I Have a Foster Dog?

The length of a foster dog's stay in a foster home depends upon how long it takes for us to find the pup its forever home. Sometimes dogs are adopted within a week or two. Other times, a dog might be in a foster home for a month, 2 months, or even a year.

Regardless, after a period of time, if a foster home feels that they are becoming too attached to their foster dog, or that the dog is not working out in their home, we can make arrangements to find another place for the dog to stay.

What If I Have Other Pets? Can I Still Foster a Beagle?

Of course! We require that your pets are spayed or neutered and up to date on all shots before you can foster a Nittany Beagle Rescue beagle.

How Do I Become a Nittany Beagle Rescue Foster Home?
